I Found It!

I love this piece and have oodles of more designs on sketch books and floating in my mind.  This design/technique has endless possibilities.   Sculpture from fiber, embellishments, and painted window screening.  What more could I want?

Soft Sculpture - WAVE
Did you notice the copper disk on the right?  I had been wanting to sign my work, but it is difficult with the variety of fiber and other material I use.  A good friend Catherine High, created the little disks and some larger with silver metal behind the copper.  Aren't they great.  My initials are just right.  PB

Work in Progress

Art in Progress
Sorry for the less than professional picture, but wanted you to see the second in a series of work I am doing.  The pieces have two layers, the back layer with detailed representation of - in this case, sea weed, and the top layer which is netting with strong lines that emphasize the lower layer.  Trust me, it looks better in person and it won't be long before there are better pictures.  This is the second of the series.  The first one was of a tree and autumn leaves, and the third, not yet started, is of a landscape with cattails.

New Work

Sorry about no recent updates!  I took a little time off with holidays and a cold.  But finally, I got back to work and feel so much better!  Losing myself in the creation process makes me smile and then the work is easier and then I smile more.  An upward spiral.

The Artful Women are preparing for a show at the Danville Theatre Art Gallery in March/April and we thought it would be fun to have small, ready to frame pieces to sell.
So we are all preparing 11 x 14's.  My examples.....

Houston Quilt Festival

SAQA Benefit 2013

Each year the Studio Art Quilt Association (SAQA) offers 12" x12" pieces of art for auction.  The well known names are grouped and offered the first few days, the others are auctioned over the next month or so.  But some are selected to be in the silent auction at the Houston Festival.  This year my piece was selected to for the Houston Group.    I m so proud to be selected.  If you are going to the show, be sure to see this part of the exhibit.

Just for your information....the Art League of Lincoln's Member Show has been extended through Sept 26.  It's a great first show for the League.

It Sold!

I hoped you enjoyed seeing the piece shown below, because it SOLD.  A friend noticed that the piece had a red dot on the label and called me with the good news.  Thank you to whomever bought it.  Johnny Appleseed had won several awards and was a favorite with friends.

More good news.  Another good friend attended the Shenandoah Vineyards Artist Reception last Saturday (9/7).  While enjoying the show she saw my "Pumpkins" and  had to have them.   It is really great that she has this piece, because I can still see it whenever I wish.   Thank you to my friend Jan.

Hope you can see the show up in Plymouth because it is beautiful iwith good light, and a background of old wine barrel wood.  Let me know if you need more info.
