A fun thing happened to me!

Hard & Soft
2015

One day out of the blue, I received an email from Style Magazine's Heather L. Becker about writing an article.  Not sure how Heather found me but off we went.  First there were email questions, then more emails.  After that Dante Fontana, their photographer paid a visit.  Both were so professional and true artist in their chosen fields.  My answers were made to sound so interesting and Dante made me look so much better!  Thank you to both Heather and Dante.

I am unable to move the article into this blog so please go to this link.  Style Mag Lincoln Artist Pam Berry  You will find the article listed.  Magazines are available in a variety of places that you can also find on this site.

One note:  I am no longer the curator of the October Fiber Art show at the Art League of Lincoln (ALL).  Jean Cross is now the curator and I encourage you to visit their site.  Art League of Lincoln  You can enter on this site also.  It will be a great show with lots of unique art.

Upcoming Show - FIBER ART - EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED

Leo Bay Lights
Media - Mixed
cotton, rayon, & embellished window screen

Recently, I joined the Art League of Lincoln (ALL4Art) and within minutes was asked to become the Curator for their Fiber Arts show in October 2016.  What an honor.

Myself along with a good friend Catherine High, are preparing the information for the Call to Artists listed on the ALL4Art website.
Release will be in a few weeks.

This is not only an opportunity for me, but for all of you.  I will be looking for art that pushes the boundary of fiber art.  An original design using fiber of any sort, possibly other media, and in 2 or 3 dimensional form.

The Art League of Lincoln is small but growing.  Please stop by just to see the latest exhibit and great sales room.
I'll be sending information to many of you but you can always look for information on the ALL web site. all4art.net

Sierra Needlers February Meeting

I am looking forward to being the Guest Speaker at the Serria Needler's February meeting.  Not only will I enjoy sharing my work but it is a coming home experience. I was born in Auburn and lived there until I was 9-10. Later I returned for just one day-  my wedding!

The meeting will be fun, as I trace my journey as a quilter and artist.  Work shown will start with a very crooked under-water quilt through to my new work that combines pottery and fabric.  That piece called Hard &Soft recently was awarded 2nd Place for Placer Art League event at General Gomez Gallery.

Meeting is on Saturday, Feb 20, at 9:30, address 350 Nevada St in the Library.

Exploring New Looks with Success

Hard & Soft
Here is what I have been exploring, and it won 2nd Place at the Placer Art League show at the General Gomez Gallery in Auburn.
The outside is made of bisque/fire clay and painted.  The center is my favorite fabric with beads, trapunto, and fibers.
My first love was clay.  If you are old enough, you will remember how Sac State College (now universety  had a display at the State Fair.  Every year I would watch students working on the pottery wheel.  It was like magic!  Back in the 70/80's I took lessons from Bill Jackson.  But soon I got tired of round pots and then got distracted by work.  Now I have a little room to play with clay and paint.  Lucky me!
So know you know why I haven't been posting much - I was recharging my batteries.

New Art Gallery in Auburn - and I'm in it!

Fish Dreams
My Fish Dreams has been selected for the AQUA VISTAS show at the new General Gomez ARTS and Events Center.  This is their first show and I am excited to be included.  The center is owned and operated by a Sister/Brother team who named their gallery after a Great Grandfather who owned the original building.  They are local people supporting local art - a wonderful thing.  Below are the particulars so I hope you can visit sometime soon.
